Moira could not be happier with her life as the clan leader’s wife. Together she and her beloved are raising four children and organizing the clan to farm their rustic settlement at the furthest range of the Beechshaw Tribe. Focused on her family, Moira rarely interacts with the other wives, who, like herself, married into the clan from elsewhere in the tribe.

Then one spring morning a child appears in her garden, heralding the arrival of an invading horde from the west. The clan’s men are killed or missing, and the women are forced to feed the horde as it sweeps east to conquer the rest of the tribe.

To save her children, Moira must find a way to defeat their cruel overseers before the invaders take the fall harvest, leaving what’s left of the clan to starve. But first, she must earn her clanswomen’s trust.
